Overview
This objective of this department is to help support the people of Cold Lake First Nations (CLFN) by providing opportunities in training and employment. It is committed to helping CLFN members become self sufficient, productive members of society by enhancing their employability dimensions such as career decision making, employment maintenance and skills enhancement and development. The department provides funding for short term skills development training leading to immediate employment. Funding is provided on a need basis.

Programs administered within the department include:
  • Labour market programs- such as helping CLFN members start their own business, subsidizing employers to encourage them to hire CLFN individuals, and helping CLFN members to obtain skills e.g. course costs, allowances for travel etc.
  • Employment assistance services- to act as support for the unemployed, e.g. by providing resume writing services, computer access, labour market information , faxing and photocopying services etc.
  • Youth programs- providing summer employment programs to students, internships to enhance skills and give work experience, and support activities to provide youth with the information they need to make career and education decisions.
  • Disability programs- providing information for persons with disabilities on how to access the labour market, and training for the Human Resources department on how to encourage persons with disabilities to access services.
  • Child care programs- To provide quality child care through Cold Lake First Nations Daycare Centre, for children of working or training parents.
